Sony has announced that it will be added PS4 Pro Ultra 4K HD support for Media Play in a new update this week.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, the format holder confirmed that the update will be rolled out starting tomorrow, after which 4K videos in the mp4 format saved on a USB stick or home server can be played on the Media Player app. In addition, PSVR owners can enjoy 4K VR video content thanks to tomorrow’s update and will display in a higher resolution compared to HD VR videos. This should do well for those who partake in a bit of PSVR porn.
PS4 Pro update lands tomorrow
“Your home server will appear as a media option in the Player automatically so finding your media is simple and quick. Just a reminder, USB storage that’s already been formatted as extended storage for your PS4 can only be used to save games and apps – it can’t be used to save and play the videos,” wrote Sony.
“And while on the topic of 4K, many of you have already been enjoying 4K streaming on PS4 Pro, but in case you weren’t aware, streaming video apps including Netflix and YouTube have 4K content available, so make sure to check them out.”
Recently, Sony rolled out PS4 update 4.50 which also brought in Boost Mode, along with dozens of compatible Boost mode games that make games run and look better. The Ps4 Pro Ultra 4K HD update will be rolled out throughout the day.
